Track competitor product launches
Launch monitoring is more than an RSS skimmer — Argus (CloudyBot’s Competitor Monitor Specialist) reads marketing pages and changelogs in a real cloud-browser session, compares against yesterday’s snapshot, and tells you what actually shipped. You get a short WhatsApp summary plus a full email report with evidence links.
Why RSS and Product Hunt miss the full picture
Product Hunt tells you what someone chose to announce. Changelog RSS feeds break when sites redesign. Competitors often ship quietly on a /features page or promote a launch only on the homepage hero. Argus visits the same public URLs a human would — pricing, changelog, blog, careers, and homepage — routed through a residential VPN from your country so JavaScript-heavy pages render correctly.
Signals Argus watches
Each morning run looks for material product and positioning changes per competitor you list (1–3 domains on setup):
- Changelog and blog product posts — new features, deprecations, and strategy posts worth forwarding to product.
- Feature pages and docs updates — when marketing or public docs reflect a launch before press picks it up.
- Homepage repositioning — hero copy, category claims, or “new” badges when a launch is promoted above the fold.
- Founder and social signals — recent posts on X, LinkedIn, or Hacker News when they indicate company direction (filtered for noise).
Routine cosmetic tweaks and generic job listings are ignored so you are not pinged for CSS-only diffs.
How the daily loop works
- Visit — Argus opens each competitor’s public pages in the cloud browser (browser + files skills on Growth).
- Compare — today’s text snapshot is diffed against yesterday’s saved file under your workspace.
- Interpret — the Specialist classifies moves (feature launch, blog post, hiring signal, quiet day, or error).
- Deliver — WhatsApp summary with a shareable report link; fuller HTML report in email. Quiet days are reported too.
Default delivery is morning in your timezone (you pick the time in setup). For pricing-specific watches, see pricing change alerts.
What you get each morning
- Plain-language summary: quiet day vs N competitors moved.
- Structured JSON/HTML report with evidence URLs and screenshots when pages changed materially.
- Shareable report links (typically ~14 days) you can forward to product or sales.
- Full Growth plan access — use remaining Specialists for other automation beyond competitor watches.
Setup and pricing
Competitor Monitor requires the Growth plan ($19 USD/mo). Setup is in your browser: paste competitor domains, pick delivery time and timezone, optionally link WhatsApp. No enterprise CI contract. Preview output: sample report · hub: Competitor Monitor.
FAQ
Does it replace Product Hunt alerts?
No — it complements them with direct site evidence from competitors you list. Product Hunt covers launches someone submits; Argus covers what appears on their own site.
How many competitors can I track?
Up to three competitor URLs per Competitor Monitor workspace on Growth. Narrow the list to direct rivals you care about every morning.
How often does Argus check for launches?
Daily scheduled run — you choose timezone and delivery time. Hourly checks are usually noise for SaaS launch monitoring; daily catches overnight ship cycles.
Is this legal?
Reading public marketing pages is standard market research. Stay on public URLs; do not bypass logins. See ethics & legal guide and Trust & Safety.
